15th VDI Conference on Sewage Sludge Treatment on 11 and 12 September 2024 in Wolfsburg

The new Sewage Sludge Ordinance requires sewage treatment plant operators to utilise sewage sludge and recover phosphorus after the transitional periods from 2029 and 2032 respectively. However, sewage treatment plant operators already had to submit a report by 2023 on the measures they intend to take with regard to phosphorus recovery. Unfortunately, there are not yet many processes that have been trialled on an industrial scale. At the 15th VDI Conference on Sewage Sludge Treatment, technical innovations for dewatering and drying sewage sludge as well as experiences with sewage sludge mono-incineration and new strategies and project results for P recycling will be presented in addition to the implementation of new legal developments.
